The best time to walk the riverbank, in the early morning, with the quiet stream and the burning crispness of the cold air. Barney loves running in the water, bringing me sticks to throw.
Today though, it isn’t a stick he brings. It’s a small red bobble hat. It looks clean and warm, he tilts his head and pants happily.
He turned towards the river’s edge and there lay I red coat no bigger than a child’s. Barney goes towards it and keeps turning back wanting me to follow. There lay a sleeping child who was grey, still and lifeless.

My first ever attempt at Rochelle Wisoff-Fields ‘Friday Fictioneers’ and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Take a look and see what you can do 🙂 Highly recommended!
